Welcome

There are at least 2.3 million carers in Australia, and I am one of them. My father came to live with us in January 2005 and I have found the journey very isolating, extremely lonely and beyond difficult. I have found little help from professionals, so called services, and family and friends. One of the most frustrating aspects for me was that no-one understood what I was going through. So I decided to start this website in an attempt to contact other people in my situation. It doesn't matter what condition you are caring for, the emotional needs are exactly the same for every carer. So grab yourself a cuppa and come on in!

Forum

Yeah!  A place to go to communicate with other people in your position! You will find that you are not alone. You can vent, rant and rave and other people actually DO understand where you are coming from. Share funny stories, or just have a laugh. Swap or receive some helpful advice. You can join in or just read other entries, whichever you are comfortable with. Just chose a topic and away you go.

My Story

Each month there will be a personal look at one of our members. It is interesting to see what other people have to deal with and you might find some tips to help you or offer some advice to help them. Email us with your story for possible publication on the site. Your story might just help others in your situation.

It took 19 months to get a diagnosis for my father's condition and, after months of research, it was me who stumbled on Dad's disease. The newsletter is designed to inform you of something new each month, maybe a new product or service that might just help your situation. Even though I have been a carer for three years now, I am still finding out about services and products which I didn't know existed.
